Here at Appian, we’re passionate about technology. We love making it, and we love using it. Joining Appian Engineering will provide you with the opportunity to learn in an environment that values cross-functional collaboration and is committed to personal and professional growth. We want to revolutionize the way people work, and in doing so, we develop the Appian platform to be simple so our customers can thrive.
Appian is a low-code application platform that lets business people build powerful enterprise web and mobile apps with flexible, visual models instead of complex custom code. The kSRE Squad is responsible for incident response and reliability of the back-end engines that make low-code applications possible. We need Site Reliability Engineers to apply software engineering solutions to operational problems on Appian’s Process Engines.
As a Site Reliability Engineer on the kSRE Squad, you will be responsible for maintaining the Process Engines, resolving customer escalations, and building the infrastructure to make operations sustainable in a 24x7 environment. You will use your knowledge of functional programming languages and your troubleshooting skills to maintain the Process Engines tech stack and solve problems as they arise. You will be a member of the on-call rotation and work closely with the Process Engine software development squad. You will develop your own tools to streamline processes and make your job easier.
Appian is headquartered in the McLean, Virginia area, and we are supportive of both Remote and Hybrid work environments.
To be successful in this role, you need:
- To love the challenge of troubleshooting new issues
- To be open to working with any programming language paradigm
- To fearlessly jump into production environments to address customers' urgent issues
Some of the tools and resources we will equip you with include:
- Dedicated Learning Time. Over 3,000 LinkedIn Learning and Udemy courses, and tuition reimbursement for external educational programs.
- Engineering IndieTime & annual hackathons. We value activities that get the creative juices flowing and inspire innovation.
- Immersion into our community. Our affinity groups are a great place to connect and grow.
- Hybrid and flexible working hours.
- B.S. in Computer Science or related field and 3+ years experience in software development
- Experience in customer support escalations, ideally with 3+ years of strong experience in Java, C++, python or the like
