Communications Architect (Security & Compliance)

Appian’s Information Security PMO team is looking for an experienced Strategic Communications Manager. In the role of Senior Manager, Security & Compliance Customer Success you will be responsible for working on various customer-facing activities ensuring customer understanding and accepting of our security controls and processes. You may also manage others to support similar activities. You will be working with customers from regulated industries particularly from the Public Sector to address their security and compliance related inquiries.

Appian is headquartered in the McLean, Virginia area, and we are supportive of both Remote and Hybrid work environments.

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Host and manage complex customer security reviews from Appian customers and prospect customers in CONUS.
  • Present security and compliance related topics to customers in conjunction with Training Professional Services, Architect Services and Marketing events (onsite and virtual).
  • Assist Legal organization to negotiate security and compliance language for Master Services Agreements.
  • Provide direction to Sales, Solutions Consulting and Customer Success on customer security questionnaires.
  • Publish and maintain customer facing security and compliance documents and white papers.
  • Provide inputs to the product management and engineering organizations with customer generated requests.
  • Provide security and compliance education and training to various internal organizations (Sales, Customer Success, Solutions Consulting, etc.).
  • Drive process improvement via leveraging the Appian platform.
  • Work independently as well as part of a team.

Basic qualifications:

  • BS Degree in Computer Science or a technology related field
  • 8+ years experience within a Global On-demand environment with a focus on security and communication marketing 

Nice to haves:

  • 5-7 years of customer facing presentations to ‘C’ level executives as well as technical experts
  • Knowledge of various compliance audits and security certifications (FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, etc.) highly desired
  • Willingness and ability to travel to domestic and international locations
  • Good organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills across multiple levels and functions
  • Comprehensive knowledge of current risks, security frameworks, and trends.
