As a Partner Sales Engineer (Public Sector), you will enable US Public Sector Partners to be able to sell Appian effectively, collaborating with Partner Managers as the key technical adviser and product advocate. This will include providing technical support to partners throughout the sales process, such as qualifying deals, designing technical Proof of Concepts, coaching partners in properly positioning Appian and messaging Appian value points, and assisting in the production of RFP responses and other proposals to Public Sector clients.  You will strategize with partners to design highly complex solutions and recommend how to incorporate Appian in large capture opportunities.  You will also support partners in the development of Appian Solutions, providing feedback on market fit and differentiation, conducting UI/UX reviews, assisting with technical troubleshooting, and recommending how to incorporate new features and capabilities.

To be successful in this role, you need:

  • Technical depth to respond to all functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs
  • Recent experience in a modern programming language such as Java, C#, Python, C++, JavaScript, SQL,  HTML, XML, XSL, etc. 
  • Experience working in an enterprise software sales position (Business Process Management Platforms, Low Code Platforms, or Application Development Platform experience preferred)
  • Experience selling to US government agencies and an understanding of the federal procurement process
  • Ability to strategically problem solve by thinking outside of the box 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; experience with customer interaction, requirements analysis, and presentations
  • Familiarity with production environments (application servers, web servers, databases)

Basic qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Systems, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 4+ years as a successful Pre-Sales Engineer working heavily with partners/integrators, and/or 4+ years working in a Technical Professional Services/Consulting role that is client facing and involves sales scenarios 
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% to partner, customer, and conference locations throughout the US
